Biography and education
Enric Rubió was born in 1964 in Sant Jaume de Llierca, Girona. From a young age, Enric was drawn to drawing and painting. At the age of 9, he entered at the School of Fine Arts in Olot under the direction of artist Joan Vilà Moncau. Some of his instructors included Joan Ferrés, Xavier Viñolas, Paxinc ,Fernandez de Castro, Auli , and Carbonell. At the time, Enric Rubió was interested in learning the painting style and craftmanship characteristic of classical artists from Olot, such as basic methodology, and particularly the “plein-air” landscapes of precursors Vayreda and Berga.
From 1990 to 1995 he assisted the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Trades of Olot where he graduated in Applied Arts and Fine Crafts with a specialization in painting and murals.
Enric Rubió completed his training in the “Academy Statale di Velle Arti” in Frosinone (Italy) through a cultural exchange.
Currently Enric Rubió is a professor at the Municipal School of Art in Bonmatí, Girona, and runs an academy and Art Gallery
“L’Atelier” in Olot, Girona-Spain.

The landscape of his beloved Girona is what is reflected in throughout his paintings his themes, which he executes with lyrical obedience. His naturalistic representations know of the the temptations for the impressionism techniques: the exaltation of greens and blues, the presence of calm and shimmering water, trees, seasonal skies and fields …. These are gammets of submissive reality that Enric Rubió brings to life through his eyes and skilled art brush. As he is considered a veteran painter, he has deep technical knowledge and masters color. He is also especially gifted in knowing how to find the right angle, the most uplifting way to frame a subject, how to turn bring life into the canvas through a conjugation of tonalities, occasionally adding haziness to dawns and soft lights to sunsets.
Tradition and objectivity, converted into principles, fill his paintings with continuity and imagery. For this reason, one is able to sense the creative dynamics, whimsical touches, and a profound expression of pure affirmation in his work.

Enric Rubió's color enriches his work, a color used with restraint and sensitivity, seeking and achieving a tonal unity, without stridency, of gratifying contemplation. He takes care of each and every one of the areas, the detail is important and sometimes becomes almost miniature.

Enric Rubió's work is extensive, open, he almost always prefers Plein air, the space, to enclosing himself in the studio. He leans towards the landscape, allowing the trees to see the forest. Clarity, descriptive cleanliness and perfection characterize him.
His painting is natural, fluid, spontaneous but also deep, careful, unhurried, impregnated with creative seriousness, dedicated to a well-established work.
